Those Promarkers really are addictive.
I am working on some portraits now which I try to make as realistic as possible.. but still with a cartoony feeling.

Here's a quick 10 minute doodle.., I want to do some real fashion illustrations later. This is a quick doodle. The scan quality is really bad and so is the color translation so sorry for that.
I also desperately need more tones for skin shading!

I really want to draw more but currently I am working a lot of hours a week and I have my driving lessons and stuff.. luckily I will have more time after my holiday which I return from september 18th!

Oh and if it's supposed to be summer in your country too and you also get rain all the time? I have the golden hint! Download some 90's R&B or pop classics. I'm listening to them for 2 days already and at least it's summer in my heard now ;-)

Dirty pretty things

I really was pissed when my computer suddenly crashed some weeks ago.
I was really working hard on an illustration based on my favourite tv show lately, "Pretty Little Liars".

It's like a cheerleader thriller. Best thing (after "mr. Fitz") is that the four leading actresses every episode look smashing in their own style (girly, preppy, creative and sporty).

Even if you don't like the show it's still very inspiring!

The show is about 4 girls who all have secrets. One 'stalker' makes them confess things they really want to keep for themselves.

Hmm, imagine if that would happen to you. That you have to tell in public about that one time you pissed your pants, stole something from someone you really love or any other embarrassment you didn't want anybody to know about! Horrible right?
That's what's kinda catchy about the show.
That and of course that whatever happens, these girls always look flawless. So whatever makes you feel like you want to dissapear.. that's NO reason for neglecting your outfits girls! :) LOL!

Oh, end of the story?
I had some progressions of the illustration on my computer.

Here above it is. As you can see it's more finished on the left side but hey, this black and white look matches my blog very well ;)

Up, close & Personal

Really, I must be the worst blogger alive. I didn't even take the time to introduce myself properly. Some of you who got here through my facebook or twitter already know lots of me, but I'm sure some of you don't.

Well, the name is Marleen. I'm 25 years old and I live in Arnhem, the Netherlands. Not a very big city, but still quite big.
I love drawing and art since I was a kid and I still really DO enjoy it! I started to make digital illustrations about 5 years ago. I still keep refining them and they look smoother and smoother each month. Besides that, I have a passion for shopping and fashion. Remember ladies; between passion and addiction is a VERY THIN LINE!!!
I own about 50 different colours of nailpolish. I am not ashamed of that. I feel frustrated when my nails don't match my outfit. I'm really color-oversensitive. Not only in my clothes or nailpolish, it also reflects in my artworks.

Next to this, I love to go to the theatre, to concerts (Robyn and Noisettes are still on my big wishlist!) , to read, to write, to sing, to party and to travel. My favourite country is Greece and I've been to different parts. It's sunny, full of culture and always a place for a party! I also love music, movies and things mentally sane people would love too! :)

Lipstick Lullaby

As some of you who know me closer may know, lately I have developed a huge obsession with nailpolish. Name a teint and I own it in a little bottle. But today I decided it was time for something new. I went to the make up store and I bought some solid sexy fierce lipstick. (RIMMEL London Colour Show Off no. 140 - Kiss Me).

That was easier said than done. Really. I was busy for 20 minutes to unlock the magic lipstick. Rimmel's security system is on. Those lipsticks have a better safety system than an average airport.
I tried and tried and tried and now my lips look FIERRRCE girlfriends! (and boyfriends who care).

Who minds the cut in my hand coz I had to use scissors and the 2 broken nails ANYWAY?

Vintage Mojito!

I love getting inspired by vintage looks.
I love big hats (I really should get myself one soon to combine with my maxi dresses!), psychedelic prints and sunglasses.
I love the feeling that screams: Bartender, one mojito please!
I love summer!

Oh and what about these colorschemes? Normally I love warm colors but this palette is so funky fresh!
(I know, that sounded a bit 90's didn't it? Ah too bad. I love the 90's. Secretly but intense!)

Teal is the real deal

Lady Gaga has proven to be not a one day fly but a real icon.

People who say she is "commercial"(which in my language means: "jealous coz you don't earn that much yourselves") don't look that well..

I mean how long ago people dyed their hair teal and actually looked hot?

So as a tribute to the teal deal I am workin' on an illustration! Full version and full color soon to come!
Oh and YEAH. The clean uncoloured version is indeed featuring in my layout. Paws up kids!

Welcome - I want to wear my open toe shoes.

Hey everyone!
a big cold hello from a country in Europe named The Netherlands.
It really really was supposed to be summer here right now, but nature failed this year.
As usual in Holland, so we were all prepared.
But I can't even wear my open-toe shoes and my flipflops. It's depressing!

Oh - by the way - welcome to my blog! :) I started this blog to make more LITTLE artworks and of course to shout out my hysteric thoughts every now and then! I try to upload a little piece of artwork every time I upload a blog. Just to spice up the post and of course keepin up with my skills.
I'm planning to write about stuff that inspires me. That would be other art, fashion, anything with outstanding use of color and anything psycho :)

If you have any requests (for blogposts as wel as illustrations) feel free to comment, and I'll see what I can do.

For a starter we have now my precious open-toe shoe. (image aaaabove!)
I have to wait like 4 more weeks to go to my BELOVED Greece again (people who know me a bit know that I looove to hang in that country! Last year I've been there for five months) so I can be sure to wear them.
I'm a bit pissed of the weather here in Holland doesn't let me to!
